​History of Meicom (沿革)

【Start up / Season 0 (2015.9 - 2016.5)】

＊2015. September

7 students majoring in English literature gathered and made an English session called MAEC (Meiji Academic English Community) to study for  University English classes. 

​

【Foundation of Meicom Practical English Club】　

＊2016. February

MAEC changed its name into Meicom, started to recruit new members from other faculties, and began to study English for studying abroad as

a non-official club in Meiji University.

​

【Season 1 (2016.6 - 2017.3)】

＊2016. June 　

Meicom in Izumi became one of the Official English Clubs in Meiji University. The number of members exceeded 25.

＊2016. October　

Exchange Students from China joined in Meicom. 

​

​

【Season 2 (2017.4 - 2018.3) 】

＊2017. June

Meicom saw 2nd year as an Official English Club

in Meiji University. The number of members exceeded 40.

Exchange Students from Korea and Taiwan joined in Meicom.

＊2017. August

Mecom launched "Meicom Next Project". 

We did volunteer tour guides

to foreign sightseers in Asakusa.

＊2017. September

We made a Friendship with "Be-Active" 

in Ikuta Campus, which is one of the Official

English Clubs in Meiji University,

and made a BBQ session together.    

​

＊2017. October

With Exchange students' support,

Meicom was developed

into the global community.

We started to make friends

with Exchange Students

from America, Canada, France, Switzerland, Italy,

Austria, Thailand, Philippine (Over 10 countries).

The number of members exceeded 50.

＊2017. November

Meicom made an event,

"International Presentations in 2017",

in Meiji University Festival to make presentations

about different cultures with exchange students

and to share our experience with audience.

​

【Season 3 (2018.4 - 2019.3)】

＊2018. April

Meicom saw 3rd year as Official English Club

in Meiji University.

We started "Meiji International Project". 

As a start of this project, we held a party,

"International Presentations in 2018" 

in Izumi International House.

​

＊2018. May 

We newly made friends

with Exchange Students from Germany,

The Netherlands, Singapore, Vietnam, 

Bangladesh. (Over 14 countries).

The number of members exceeded 60.

​

＊2018. June

We made a strong Friendship with "Be-Active"

through a BBQ session this year as well.    

​

＊2018. October

We went to Hakkeijima Sea Paradise

(A theme park in Kanagawa)

with exchange students as a little trip.

​

＊2018. December

We held the biggest "Meicom Christmas Party"

in Nisi-Ogikubo in which over 50 students

and exchange students joined.

The number of members exceeded 70.

​

＊2019. March

The 1st alumnus and alumna graduated

from Meicom and began to work.

​

【Season 4 (2019.4 - 2020.3)】

＊2019. April

Meicom saw 4th year as Official English Club in Meiji University.

Set new resolution as 'Meicom Diver City'

Started Digital Recruitment for new comers via our HP.

・2019. October

Meicom、Be-Active、alumnus, alumna and exchange students from Meiji made a group, ’Meiji English Alliance’, to share global news and make relationship stronger over the world.

​

【Season 5 (2020.4 - 2021.3)】

＊2020 April - 2021 Mar

We started Online Recruitment session and various activities on WEB sessions.

​

・2021 February

Started the sessions between Undergraduate and Alumnus and  Alumna in Meicom to make great connections.

【沿革】

＊初期＊ (2015.9 - 2016.5)

・2015年9月　　

文学部 英米文学専攻の学生7人が、大学の講義補講を行うために活動を開始。

MAEC(Meiji Academic English Community) と命名。

​

・2016年2月　

実用英語サークルMeicomを設立。前身のMAECを土台に、政治経済学部・法学部・

理工学部などの他学部の生徒と資格対策や海外留学演習を開始。

非公認サークルとして活動。

​

・2016年 6月　

明治大学公認サークル 教養英語会Meicomとして活動を開始。

会員数が25人を突破する。

​

・2016年 10月　

中国からの外国人留学生と英語活動を開始。

​

​

＊第2期＊ (2017.4 - 2018.3)

・2017年6月

公認サークル2期目に突入。​会員数が40人を突破する。

中国に加え、韓国、台湾の外国人留学生と共に英語活動を始める。

​

・2017年 8月

『Meicom Nextプロジェクト』開始。

 浅草にて外国人観光客に観光英語ガイドボランティア活動を行う。

​

・2017年 9月

明治大学公認 生田英語会Be-Activeとの合同会を開き、BBQセッションを通して、

英語会同士、キャンパスの垣根を越えて親睦を深める。

​

・2017年 10月

ヨーロッパ・北米からの外国人留学生の支援により、サークル内のグローバル化が

促進される。Meicomに参加する外国人留学生の出身国数が10ヵ国まで増加する。

​

・2017年 11月

明大祭に初出展。『国際プレゼンテーション2017』では部員と外国人留学生が

登壇し、英語で文化や時事問題について発表を行った。

​

＊第3期＊ (2018.4 - 2019.3)

​​・2018年 4月 

公認サークル3期目に突入。

当サークル外国人留学生共同企画『明大国際プロジェクト』を開始。

明大公認サークルで初めて Izumi International House にて 'International 　Party 2018' を開催。

​

・2018年 5月

Meicomに参加する外国人留学生の出身国数が14ヵ国に増加。

会員数が60人を突破する。

​

・2018年 6月

昨年に引き続き、明治大学公認 生田英語会Be-ActiveとBBQセッションを通して、

更なる親睦を深める。    

​

・2018年 10月

秋期到着の外国語留学生を歓迎し、八景島シーパラダイスで親睦を深める。

​

・2018年 12月

Meicom史上初となる大規模なクリスマスホームパーティーを実施。

会員数が70人を突破する。

​

・2018年 3月

Meicom第1期生が卒業し、サークル初のOBOGを輩出。

​

・2019年 4月 

公認サークル4期目に突入。

今年度のスローガン'Meicom Diver City'を基に活動を開始。

新歓活動ではブース出展を行わない斬新なスタイルを採用し、

HP経由でペーパーレスを図るDigital Recruitmentを開始。

・2019年 5月 

教養英語会Meicom、生田英語会Be-Active、明大OBOG、明大外国人留学生のコミュニティグループ’Meiji English Alliance’を開始し、国籍や年齢の壁を超えた情報交換とコネクションの強化を目指す。​

​

・2019年 9月

Meicom初、外国人留学生が幹事長に就任。多様な文化や価値観を国を超えてシェアし、サークル内で個々のメンバーが主体的に働きかける様々なアクテビティを開始。

​

【第5期 (2020.4 - 2021.3)】

＊2020年 4月

外出自粛期間下で、デジタライゼーションを取り入れ、ウェブ説明会を開催。また、通常活動でも、通常と変わらない頻度でオンラインセッションを導入。

​

・2021年 2月

メイコムのOBOGによる学部生への就活支援・相互の積極的な交流を開始。

​
